Something not working?
The steps below fix the situations we see most. If they don't, write in — a real person reads it.

No sound at all in my headphones
Try these in order: make sure live listening has actually been started; check the “Audio devices” row on the Live screen to confirm your headphones are the output; raise the phone's media volume; nudge the amplification slider up. If microphone access was denied, the app shows the “Microphone permission denied.” warning — in that case, grant Duyarim microphone access in system settings. If another app is holding the microphone (a call, a recorder, a video chat), close it and start again.
I hear feedback (squealing) or a hum
Feedback happens when the microphone picks up the sound it just produced. The volume drops to a safe value automatically if feedback is detected. Move the phone a little further from your headphones, make sure they are seated properly in your ears, and lower the amplification step by step. For a steady background hum, turn on “Noise gate” in Settings; it keeps background noise from swelling at higher levels.
My headphones don't appear in the device list
For Bluetooth headphones: make sure they're powered on and connected to the phone — if they aren't, the app says “No Bluetooth headset connected.” If Bluetooth access was denied you'll see the “Bluetooth permission denied.” warning; you can grant it in system settings. That permission is used only to select an audio device. Some headphones have no usable microphone; those are listed as an output only. For wired headphones, check that the plug is fully seated and the adapter works.
The sound is too quiet
Amplification runs from 1.0× to 12.0× and starts every session at 4.0×, the top of the Normal level. Raise the slider gradually. Crossing above 4.0× (High) and above 8.0× (Maximum) requires your explicit confirmation — without it, the level stops at that boundary. Don't forget to turn up the phone's own media volume as well. If you see the “Narrowband link; audio quality is reduced.” note on Bluetooth, choosing the phone microphone instead of the headset microphone improves the sound noticeably.
Listening stops when I turn the screen off
Live listening continues with the screen locked and can be stopped from the notification with one tap. If notification access was denied, background control is limited; grant Duyarim notification access in system settings. On Android, battery optimisation can throttle apps in the background — exclude Duyarim from those restrictions. Listening in the background keeps the microphone open continuously, so it does use more battery; that's expected.
My sessions aren't being recorded
Recording starts only with the explicit consent you give on first launch. If you declined, or turned it off later, no session is written to disk. Turn on Settings → Recording → “Record sessions”. If the device is out of space, you'll see the “Not enough space to record.” warning; free some up and try again. Even if recording can't start, live listening is never interrupted.
I can't find an older recording
Type the recording's name into the search field on the Recordings tab, and scan the list by changing the sort order (newest → oldest, oldest → newest, size). If the automatic retention limit in Settings is set to 7 or 30 days, expired recordings may have deleted themselves; set the limit to “Forever” to keep them permanently. Recordings live only inside the app's own storage, so they won't show up in your photo library or a file manager. If you deleted the app, the recordings went with it and cannot be recovered.
Safe listening
Loud should be a choice, not an accident. A few things to remember before you start:
- Connect headphones; sound goes only to your headphones.
- The volume starts low — raise it gradually.
- Stop immediately if anything feels uncomfortable.
- This product is not a medical hearing aid.
The Maximum level (8.1×–12.0×) carries a risk of hearing damage over long sessions. Keep the volume down.
Privacy and recordings
Recordings stay only on your device. Sharing takes the audio off your device. For the details, read our privacy policy.
